Um enfoque onto-semiótico do conhecimento e a instrução matemática/An onto-semiotic focus of knowledge and the mathematical instruction

Resumo

Neste trabalho apresentamos uma síntese do modelo teórico sobre o conhecimento e a
instrução matemática que estamos elaborando há vários anos. Como principais características do referido modelo, destacamos: a articulação das facetas institucionais e pessoais do conhecimento matemático, a atribuição de um papel-chave à atividade de resolução de problemas, aos recursos expressivos e à incorporação coerente de pressupostos pragmáticos e realistas sobre o significado dos objetos matemáticos. O modelo da cognição matemática elaborado se converte no elemento central para o desenvolvimento de uma teoria da instrução matemática significativa, permitindo também comparar e articular diversas aproximações teóricas usadas em Educação Matemática desde um ponto de vista unificado.

In this paper we synthesise the theoretical model for mathematical cognition and instruction
we are developing in the past years. We highlight the following main features of this approach: the articulation of the institutional and personal facets of mathematical knowledge; the recognition of a key role to problem solving and the language; and the coherent assumption of pragmatic and realist posits for the meaning of mathematical objects. This theoretical framework is used to base the development of a theory of mathematical instruction; it allows also comparing and articulating different theoretical models used in mathematics education from a unified viewpoint.
